Police Chiefs of Istanbul and Adıyaman changed: Decision published in the Official Gazette

According to the presidential appointment decisions published in the Official Gazette, Deputy Director General of Security Selami Yıldız has been appointed as the Istanbul Provincial Police Chief.

It had been previously announced that Selami Yıldız, the Head of Intelligence at the General Directorate of Security, would succeed Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Zafer Aktaş after he reaches the age limit on December 5.

WHO IS Selami Yıldız?

Born in Istanbul in 1968, Selami Yıldız graduated from the Ankara Police College in 1986 and the Police Academy in 1990. He served as a Security Attaché at the Portuguese Embassy between 1998 and 2000.

Promoted to First Class Police Chief in 2014, Yıldız was appointed as the Adana Provincial Police Chief in 2017.

Yıldız was appointed as the Deputy Director General of Security in 2023.

ADIYAMAN PROVINCIAL POLICE CHIEF ALSO CHANGED

Adıyaman Provincial Police Chief Ali Haluk Karakuş has been removed from his post, and Alper Uzman has been appointed in his place.
