Police intervene in Mahmut Tanal's vigil in front of the Ministry of Justice: 'They pulled and broke my tent'
CHP Şanlıurfa MP Mahmut Tanal began a vigil by setting up a tent in front of the Ministry of Justice for students who were arrested. Police intervened in Tanal's tent protest.
CHP Şanlıurfa MP Mahmut Tanal, who has been in the spotlight for his support of young people detained and arrested during protests that spread across Turkey following the arrest of İmamoğlu, has now begun a vigil in front of the Ministry of Justice.
In a statement on his social media account, Tanal announced that he had set up a tent in front of the Ministry on Atatürk Boulevard to hold a vigil from this evening until tomorrow morning, stating, "I am on a vigil for freedom and justice for the young people and students who were unjustly arrested."
POLICE INTERVENTION IN TANAL'S TENT
Police intervention in Tanal's tent protest was swift.
While the police removed the tent Tanal had set up, the sidewalk in front of the ministry was also blockaded.
The police did not allow journalists to approach Tanal. In his statement, Mahmut Tanal said, "They pulled and broke my tent here. They are asking me if I am setting up a camp. This lawlessness in the country is rampant. I will not get hungry, I will not get cold, I will not get tired. I will stay here until morning."
The copies of the Turkish Penal Code and the Constitution that Tanal had brought with him were also taken from him.
