Police persuade individual attempting suicide on TEM Highway
A citizen who climbed onto a TEM Highway bridge in the Çayırova district of Kocaeli attempted suicide. Following efforts by police teams, the individual was persuaded to come down, and the Istanbul-bound direction of the TEM Highway was reopened to traffic after 30 minutes.
The incident occurred on the highway bridge located on Turgut Özal Street in the Şekerpınar neighborhood of Çayırova district.
According to the information obtained, a citizen who stated they were having problems climbed onto the bridge and attempted suicide.
Citizens who noticed the situation notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, police, medical, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene.
The teams that arrived at the scene in a short time attempted to persuade the individual.
The Istanbul-bound direction of the TEM Highway was also closed to traffic by police teams.
Fire department teams deployed an air cushion on the road.
The individual, who was spoken to for 30 minutes, was persuaded by police teams and brought down from the bridge.
While the individual was taken to the police station to provide a statement, the road was reopened after 30 minutes.
