'Should the Constitution be amended for Erdoğan's candidacy?' poll
While a constitutional amendment is required for AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to run for office once again, Metropoll Research asked citizens the question, "Would you like the Constitution to be amended for Erdoğan's candidacy?" in its latest study.
The new constitutional debates that began following the targeting of the constitution by Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu, leader of HÜDA PAR, a partner in the People's Alliance, continue to maintain their place on the agenda.
While AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also frequently calls for a 'new constitution,' discussions continue that the path for Erdoğan to be re-elected will be paved with new regulations.
Metropoll Research Company also asked those participating in its latest public opinion poll, "Would you like the Constitution to be amended so that Erdoğan can be a presidential candidate again in the next elections?"
While 66.3 percent of the participants said 'No' to amending the Constitution to pave the way for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's 4th presidential candidacy, 28.5 percent said 'Yes.' 5.2 percent of the participants left the question unanswered.
In the poll, 88.9 percent of DEM Party voters, 87.6 percent of IYI Party voters, 83 percent of CHP voters, 55 percent of MHP voters, and 40.2 percent of AKP voters responded 'no.'
