Pope sends message of condolence following church attack in Sarıyer

Pope Francis, the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church, made a statement regarding the armed attack on the Latin-Catholic Santa Maria Italian Church in Istanbul's Sarıyer district.

Speaking during the Sunday Angelus prayer at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, the Pope emphasized his solidarity with the victims of the attack, stating, "I express my closeness to the community of Santa Maria Church in Istanbul, which was attacked during Sunday mass, resulting in one death."

CONDEMNATION FROM ITALY

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani offered his condolences in a message posted on the social media platform X.

Tajani emphasized that he condemns the attack on Santa Maria Church.

Stating that the Italian Ambassador in Ankara and the Consul General in Istanbul are closely following developments regarding the incident, Foreign Minister Tajani expressed his confidence that the Turkish authorities will apprehend those responsible.
