Powerful earthquakes in Afghanistan just 11 minutes apart!

Following the powerful earthquakes that occurred last Saturday, Afghanistan's Herat province has been shaken again by tremors measuring 6.3 and 5.0 in magnitude.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 occurred at 05:11 local time, with its epicenter located between 28 kilometers north and northwest of Herat.

Eleven minutes after this earthquake, a second tremor measuring 5.0 in magnitude occurred in the same region.

It was reported that both earthquakes occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Following the earthquakes, residents of Herat poured into the streets in a panic, and there was a brief power outage in the city.

2,500 PEOPLE HAD LOST THEIR LIVES

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a series of powerful earthquakes occurred in Herat province, located in western Afghanistan near the Iranian border, at 11:00 local time on October 7.

The initial 6.3 magnitude earthquake was followed shortly by tremors measuring 5.5, 6.3, and 5.9 in magnitude.

The Taliban interim government had announced that approximately 2,500 people had lost their lives and thousands more were injured in the earthquake so far.

Aftershocks are still occurring in the region following those earthquakes. Local residents are unable to enter their homes due to the aftershocks.
