Praise upon praise for Devlet Bahçeli from Ahmet Türk

In the new peace process, which is architected by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government, the terrorist organization PKK announced that it would lay down its arms and dissolve itself on May 12.

Ahmet Türk, a member of the DEM Party's Imralı delegation who has been conducting talks with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan during the new process, evaluated the PKK's decision and the current state of the process.

Speaking to Ekol TV, Türk said, "Of course, this is a positive development. For years, we have all struggled for a future where democratic politics comes to the fore, weapons are silenced, suffering is not experienced, and problems are solved through democratic politics. The point we have reached today is that."

"WE HAVE NEVER BARGAINED, AND WE WILL NOT"

Türk continued as follows:

“We have entered a period where we must address problems, the steps that need to be taken, and solutions through democratic politics, and resolve them through democratic politics. In this period, of course, important duties fall to everyone. We know very well that peace is not easy. Of course, there are expectations. As we enter this peace process, we have never made this a bargain, a subject of bargaining, and we will not." 

PRAISE FOR BAHÇELİ

In the continuation of his speech, Türk spoke highly of MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, who initiated the process. Emphasizing that Bahçeli has made a great contribution to the process, Türk stated, "Mr. Bahçeli has truly taken a risk that perhaps no other politician would take. While taking this risk, he did not make political calculations. Because he believes in Turkey's future, developments in the Middle East, and that Turkey must now pursue an inclusive policy, he has both put in the effort and made statements on this issue, and brought it to Turkey's agenda. Apart from Mr. Bahçeli, in both our meetings with Mr. Özel and our private conversations, he had expressed that he would contribute to peace with all his might. Today, we thank everyone who contributes to peace at the same point."

Speaking about the late Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Türk said, "Of course, I would also like to respectfully commemorate Sırrı Süreyya, who had great efforts in this peace process. Of course, his contribution was also very great. He left us early. We are experiencing the sadness of this."
