The expert preliminary report regarding the partial collapse of a 7-story building in Maltepe, Istanbul, which resulted in the loss of 5 lives, has been revealed. The report draws attention to the unlicensed construction in the building and the unexecuted demolition order.
According to the preliminary report reported by TRT Haber, it was determined that the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th floors, which were added later, were unlicensed. It was found that a demolition order had been issued for these four floors, but the order was not fulfilled.
In the preliminary assessment prepared following the collapse that claimed five lives, the building's architect, the building owners, and the site supervisor were found to be at fault.
The findings in the report revealed that the disaster was not merely a structural collapse; unlicensed floors and unexecuted administrative decisions were also at the center of the process.
