President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statement on KAAN: 'Like an F-16'

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at a rally held at Zafer Square in Afyonkarahisar.

Highlights from Erdoğan's speech:

"I BELIEVE AFYON WILL SHOW ITS DIFFERENCE AGAIN"

"Whatever we say about Afyon, which wrote an epic at Kocatepe, would be incomplete. I express my gratitude to each of you for supporting us with a record vote of 64 percent in the elections held in May. We set out from Afyonkarahisar when we were founding our party. We have always felt your strong support by our side in every election we have entered to date. We overcame the obstacles in our path together with you. We protected our democracy against the tutelage-seekers together with you. Now, the March 31 elections are ahead of us. There are 38 days left. Just like in the May 14-28 elections, we will make very critical choices again. I believe that Afyon will show its difference again.

Just as we crowned the National Struggle with the republic, we are announcing the Century of Turkey to the world with the elections being held. The second century of our republic, which we call the Century of Turkey, will be the century of bringing our nation to the place it deserves. While raising the flag of the Century of Turkey in every field, we will ensure that our cities keep pace with this."

"MAY GOD GIVE PATIENCE TO OUR CHP BROTHERS AND SISTERS"

"The opposition has neither a strong experience like ours nor a broad vision they can put forward. They are not interested in anything other than intra-party power struggles. They ask artificial intelligence, not the citizens, for their mayoral candidates. Whoever artificial intelligence deems appropriate, these novices bring them before the nation, saying, 'Here is our candidate.' May God give patience to our CHP brothers and sisters. They do not have a single proposal to resolve the problems of our cities. Without shame, they tell the nation, 'You will vote for our candidates whether you like it or not.' Nothing good will come to their party or the nation from those who cannot even determine their candidates without making a mess of it. They preferred to 'DEM-ify' (align) with the extensions of the separatist organization just for their personal careers."

MARCH 31 MESSAGE

"They will not be able to escape being slapped by the nation on March 31. As the AK Party and the People's Alliance, we never become complacent by looking at this pathetic state of our rivals. On the contrary, this picture further increases our responsibility. We have acted with sensitivity in the mayoral candidates we will present to our nation. Turkey has seen and recognized the types of 'zübük' (opportunistic) politicians who brag about everything in previous elections and deny the promises they made. There have also been mayors in municipalities who have caused their cities to lose years. As the government, we support municipalities that have projects through our ministries."

KAAN STATEMENT

"Our national combat aircraft KAAN successfully completed its first flight this morning. We have done it, and we will continue to do so. You see KAAN right now, don't you? And there is more to come."

Erdoğan also used the same phrase, "like an F-16," for KAAN.

"AN F-16 CAN NEVER GET CLOSE"

Drawing attention to KAAN's strike power, TUSAŞ General Manager Temel Kotil had previously stated the following:

“It strikes from 200-300 km away with its radar and missile. If a Rafale comes, you can take it down. An F-16 can never get close. Including the Block 70. F-15, F-18, Su-35s are out.”

Kotil also stated that KAAN is far beyond existing fighter jets.
