President Erdoğan holds talks with Italian Prime Minister Meloni
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During the meeting, bilateral relations between Turkey and Italy, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey and Italy have reached a bilateral trade volume of 32 billion dollars in 2024, that this figure could be increased by further developing trade and investment relations, and that Turkey is committed to increasing cooperation with Italy in many areas, particularly in the defense industry and energy.
In the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed that it is important to take action without delay for the reconstruction of Syria, and that he believes the lifting of sanctions against Syria, with Italy taking the lead in this, would benefit this process.
