President Erdoğan holds talks with NATO Secretary General Rutte

According to a statement from the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, the meeting addressed issues on NATO's agenda, as well as regional and global developments.

During the call, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey is closely monitoring the conflict in the region and that it is important to give diplomacy a chance for lasting and sustainable peace. He also noted that preparations for the NATO Leaders' Summit to be held in Ankara are ongoing and that Turkey will host the summit in a manner befitting the occasion.

In the meeting, NATO Secretary General Rutte noted that NATO will continue to contribute to ensuring the security of its allies with a 360-degree perspective.

STATEMENT FROM RUTTE REGARDING THE MEETING

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made a statement regarding his phone call with Erdoğan on his account on the social media platform X, owned by the US-based company.

Stating that he held a phone conversation with President Erdoğan regarding the security situation in Iran and the region, Rutte said, "We both agree on the importance of NATO's 360-degree approach to security, and we are in agreement that we are always ready to deter and defend against any threat that may come from any direction."
