President Erdoğan: If it does not end, the bill to be paid will grow

The World Economic Forum (WEF) Turkey Country Strategy Meeting took place today at the Presidential Dolmabahçe Office with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The meeting was also attended by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, global CEOs of multinational companies with investments in Turkey, senior representatives of international financial institutions, and managers of major funds. Speaking at the event, President Erdoğan said, "We have gathered here today both to listen to your assessments regarding the Turkish economy and to understand how you will position our country in the future vision of your companies."

'THE ENTIRE WORLD IS FEELING THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF THE WAR'

President Erdoğan stated, "As you know, in recent years, the global economy has been drifting within an agenda shaped by the post-pandemic recovery process, green and digital transformation, rising trade tensions, and geopolitical developments.

The entire world is feeling the negative effects of the war in a wide area, from energy markets to the functioning of production, informatics, transportation, and trade networks. As I have expressed on different occasions before, the entire humanity, as much as the parties to the conflict, is paying the price for this senseless, unlawful, and unnecessary war that has been deeply shaking our region for a month.

While there is an opportunity to find common ground through diplomacy and dialogue, we are all, as the human family, bearing the burden of these paths being sabotaged," he said.

'IF THE CONFLICTS DO NOT END, THE BILL TO BE PAID WILL GROW'

President Erdoğan said, "It is a fact that if the conflicts do not end, the bill to be paid will grow.

Geographical distance will have no meaning in this process; in fact, countries located on different continents will, as it is understood, be affected more in terms of energy. Global risk analyses reveal that we have entered a more competitive and more fragile period in the international system.

In this new era, the global economic order is exposed to threats from many fronts.

Energy security and the erosion of supply chains, the erosion of the international trade regime, and protectionist policies are increasing vulnerabilities, and all these developments are reducing the number of stable economies," he said.
