The Cabinet Meeting, chaired by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has concluded. AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan made significant statements following the Cabinet meeting.
Highlights from President Erdoğan's statements are as follows:
-We welcomed the year 2025 with great hopes. I pray to God that the new year will be auspicious. We are working with a spirit of full mobilization to alleviate the hardships faced by the people of Gaza. Our diplomatic contacts continue to increase the pressure of the international community on Israel. We are doing whatever is necessary to open a door that will revive hopes for peace in Gaza.
-Some are uncomfortable with this meeting, which is a source of pride for our country and nation; those who react to this are the destitute of conscience who have not received their share of humanity.
-Just as patience has prevailed in Syria after 61 years of Ba'ath oppression, I hope that justice will also be served in Palestine. An independent, sovereign Palestinian state with territorial integrity will certainly be established.
-Since we came to power in 2002, our goal in politics has always been to serve the people; we have never compromised on this principle. We have focused on permanent gains for the nation.
-We completed 2024 with records, especially in foreign trade.
-The latest inflation data has confirmed that we are on the right track in the fight against inflation. Annual inflation has fallen by 20 points compared to the end of 2023 and by 32 points compared to May. The downward trend in inflation will accelerate even further in 2025. The effect of monetary policy on inflation will be seen more clearly.
-We will support disinflation not only with demand-side policies but also with supply-side policies in many areas.
-The state is obligated to fight against opportunism. We will never show tolerance to those who reach into the pockets of the nation. Administrative fines totaling 5 billion lira have been imposed on 224 thousand companies. In inspections, 366 million lira in fines were issued to 1,555 real and legal persons. As a result of 1.3 million inspections in food audits, 1.4 billion lira in fines were imposed.
-We will protect the rights and laws of all 85 million people at the highest level. A free market does not mean lawlessness, it never means disorder; the purpose of inspections is to ensure that operations are carried out on a healthier foundation.
BOYCOTT CALL FROM ERDOĞAN
-It is important that our citizens also support the fight against the high cost of living. The way to do this is to boycott those who apply exorbitant prices. Our most important trump card against those who engage in opportunism is to use our right not to purchase.
-Another main agenda item of our Cabinet last year was the reconstruction of our earthquake-stricken regions. We launched the construction mobilization of the century. We spent 2.6 trillion lira, which amounts to 75 billion dollars at today's exchange rate, and delivered the keys to our 155,000th home. In 2025, we will deliver a total of 453,000 homes and workplaces to disaster victims. By the end of the year, all our citizens in 11 provinces will have their homes.
-As Turkey, we are located in a geography with high strategic value, at the heart of 3 continents. The first condition for survival here is deterrence; being right is not enough, you must also be strong. We have not forgotten who was waiting in line to tear a piece of flesh from our bodies when we fell ill. We not only tore up and threw away the Treaty of Sèvres, but we also swore never to let the nation face such a trauma again.
-We are constantly moving our defense industry initiatives forward.
"WE MAY COME SUDDENLY ONE NIGHT"
-We shared our 2024 report card with 20 main headings on December 31. Throughout 2025, we will continue to produce services day and night with the motto that 'those who run with love do not get tired.' Reaching the goal of a terror-free Turkey is our highest priority for the future.
-With the epic revolution in our neighbor Syria, a new era has begun both in the region and in our country. We will not consent to the fragmentation of Syria under any circumstances; if we see a risk in this regard, we will take the necessary steps immediately. We may come suddenly one night.
-The circle is tightening for the separatist organization and its extensions in Syria; as the government and the alliance, we will definitely achieve our goal of a terror-free Turkey. We hope that this will happen with gentleness and calm. We sincerely believe that brotherhood will win in the end.
-The LGBTI issue is at the forefront of threats to the family. We have decided to declare 2025 the Year of the Family in order to raise awareness in all segments of society.
-Within the scope of our domestic and national 5G communication network project, we will hold our 5G tender within 2025. We aim to receive our first signal in 2026.
