President Erdoğan points to religious communities, 'Kuriş' cartoon emerges: They are approaching inch by inch
The Süleymancılar community became the first group to come to the agenda after AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan used the phrase 'certain religious communities' in his speech. Following the speech, it was alleged that an operation was carried out against the Süleymancılar in Ankara and that 4 members of the group, including a high-level state bureaucrat, were detained.
Operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) continue to be a major topic of discussion. AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, who made an 'octopus' analogy regarding the allegations in the files subject to the İBB operations, pointed to religious communities during his speech at his party's group meeting.
Following Erdoğan's remarks regarding the structuring of religious communities, a cartoon drawn by the Misvak group, known for its proximity to the government, drew attention. In the cartoon drawn by Misvak, a reference was made to Alihan Kuriş, the head of the Süleymancılar community, with the caption: "Our turn has come, Kuriş Kuriş, oh, they are approaching inch by inch."
"OUR TURN HAS COME, KURIŞ KURIŞ, OH, THEY ARE APPROACHING INCH BY INCH"
In the cartoon drawn by the Islamist Misvak magazine, known for its proximity to the government, the speech bubble of individuals wearing blue skullcaps and sporting mustaches like the Süleymancılar contained the following expressions: "Our turn has come, Kuriş Kuriş, oh, they are approaching inch by inch. Kuriş Kuriş, oh, they will hold us accountable penny by penny." The cartoon in question was shared on Misvak magazine's social media accounts and received thousands of comments.

ALSO KNOWN AS KURIŞILER
According to the news report in GerçekGündem, the tension between the Süleymancılar and the AKP has been among the topics discussed for some time.
Unlike other religious communities, the Süleymancılar, who did not announce their support for the People's Alliance during the election processes, had come to the agenda with various allegations after the last local elections. According to some claims, it was alleged that the current leader of the Süleymancılar, Alihan Kuriş, said, "We did not give our support in the local elections. They saw what happened."
Members of the community, known in the public as the Süleymancılar, prefer to call themselves the Süleymanlılar. The community, founded by Süleyman Hilmi Tunahan, also began to be referred to as the Kurişiler after Alihan Kuriş became the leader in 2016.
