President Erdoğan reacts to scenes at Kadıköy Municipal Council: CHP is misogynistic
Speaking at the March 8 International Women's Day Iftar Program, President Erdoğan said, "We will rid ourselves of terrorism. I hope we will see the days when the dark shadow of terrorism is lifted from our country together." Reacting to the scenes at the Kadıköy Municipal Council, Erdoğan stated, "As seen again yesterday, the CHP is a misogynistic party. The CHP is an oppressive, rude, and fascist political entity that cannot tolerate women expressing their ideas freely."
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important statements at the March 8 International Women's Day Iftar Program held at the Haliç Congress Center.
Giving significant messages regarding the goal of a terror-free Turkey, Erdoğan said, "We will continue to work to completely rid this nation of the scourge of terrorism."
Highlights from President Erdoğan's statements are as follows:
I celebrate the March 8 International Women's Day for women in our country and all over the world on behalf of myself and my wife. I respectfully salute the brave women of Gaza who heroically resist oppression on behalf of all women in my country, and I congratulate each of them.
WE WILL RID OURSELVES OF TERRORISM
We will rid ourselves of terrorism. I hope we will see the days when the dark shadow of terrorism is lifted from our country together. I also wish mercy upon all our women who fell as martyrs for the future and independence of our nation. I kiss the hands of all mothers who have endured many hardships and raised conscious, respectful children for this homeland. I also respectfully salute the women's branches of our party.
IT IS UNTHINKABLE TO WRITE TURKISH HISTORY BY EXCLUDING WOMEN
According to our faith and civilizational values, women are the backbone of society. When we look at our history, we always see the role of women at turning points. Many others like Nene Hatun and Major Ayşe put themselves forward for this nation when the time came. I would like to state this very clearly once again today; it is unthinkable to write either the history of the Islamic world or Turkish history by excluding women.
ZERO TOLERANCE FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
Distinguished guests, from the very first day we took office, we have tried to pave the way for women in every field. Our work focused on women continues with the same sensitivity. With the presidential circular we published today, we established the Women's Empowerment Coordination Board and provincial coordination boards. By strengthening women's cooperatives, we are carrying the labor of our women to the national arena. We support women's entrepreneurship. We continue our struggle with the idea of zero tolerance for violence against women. With our new boards, we aim to carry out services for women more effectively.
THE CHP IS A MISOGYNISTIC PARTY
The claims of the opposition, especially the main opposition party, regarding the Istanbul Convention have no basis. Before anyone else, start raising awareness against violence against women within your own ranks and your own municipalities. The insolence shown yesterday against our female council member at the Kadıköy Municipality has once again shown the genes of February 28. As seen again yesterday, the CHP is a misogynistic party. The CHP is an oppressive, rude, and fascist political entity that cannot tolerate women expressing their ideas freely. The sooner the CHP cleanses itself of its mentality known for misogyny, the better it will be for both our women and our country.
IT IS THE LAW, NOT THE CONVENTION, THAT SAVES LIVES
If Mr. Özel tries to whitewash the corruption of his mayors instead of improving himself in politics, he will only make himself look more ridiculous. If the leader of the main opposition party is looking for a misogynist, he should not lash out left and right; he should first look in the mirror and face his party's bad record. Whatever the opposition says, we will continue to say what we know to be true. Law No. 6284 contains the necessary sanctions and penalties for combating violence. That is why we say it is the law, not the convention, that saves lives.
WE WILL PROTECT OUR CHILDREN WHOM MOTHERS ARE AFRAID TO KISS
I wish God's mercy upon our little Rana, who lost her life at the age of 2 as a result of an attack by stray dogs in Konya. We are determined to implement the law we enacted in August against the obstructions of the opposition and all gang-like structures. I hope we will overcome this as well and protect our children whom mothers are afraid to kiss and cuddle. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has expanded the investigation regarding yesterday's incident."
