President Erdoğan receives members of the Balkan Peace Platform
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received members of the Balkan Peace Platform in Istanbul.
President Erdoğan received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Ervin Ibrahimović, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia Timčo Mucunski, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania Elisa Spiropali, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nevena Jovanović in Istanbul.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between the countries and Turkey, as well as regional issues, were discussed.
President Erdoğan expressed his satisfaction with the second meeting of the Balkan Peace Platform held in Istanbul and thanked the representatives of the countries for their contributions. President Erdoğan stated that it was important to address many issues such as border security, energy, technology, and transportation at the meeting, and that the consultations held with a sense of regional ownership were significant.
President Erdoğan stated that the world and our region are facing various challenges, and that the development of solidarity and mutual understanding among the member countries of the Balkan Peace Platform has gained importance in this process.
President Erdoğan noted that Turkey is making efforts to reduce and end the effects of instability in our region, that peace-oriented efforts are continuing in many places, especially in Ukraine, Gaza, and Syria, and that it is necessary to act with an understanding that targets the future by learning from the pains of the past in the Balkans as well.
President Erdoğan was accompanied at the meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and Chief Advisor to the President Sabri Demir.
