President Erdoğan's NATO commentary: From the originality of the gifts to the perfection of the organization, it continues to be discussed and debated

Srebrenica is a wound in our hearts. The West could not protect civilians in Srebrenica.

We successfully held the 36th Summit of Heads of State and Government on July 7-8. The 32 heads of state and government of the alliance members attended the summit we hosted at the Presidential Complex. Despite different statements made before the summit, all leaders, including the President of the United States, Mr. Trump, personally honored our invitation. In addition to the leaders, we hosted a total of 4,800 high-level diplomats, representatives of international organizations, and guests in Ankara, including nearly a hundred ministers and a thousand delegates. In addition to the allied countries, heads of state or ministers from NATO's Asia-Pacific partners South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia, as well as from the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative partners Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, attended the summit.

THANKS TO ANKARA FOR THE NATO SUMMIT

I must emphasize this point in particular: NATO summits are international meetings where security is monitored at the highest level and where not the slightest negligence or carelessness is allowed. We did not leave anything to chance regarding security measures. We ensured that all kinds of precautions were taken in a measured manner with our police, intelligence, and judicial units. The necessary information was provided to our public weeks in advance. The identified infrastructure deficiencies were resolved in a timely manner through intensive work. We mobilized our local administrations along with our ministries and governorship for these efforts. We revived and opened Etimesgut Military Airport for service, both to relieve the aircraft and passenger traffic of Esenboğa Airport and to be used for official visits. Thus, we have provided our capital with another modern airport with its roads, suspension bridge, and state guesthouse. I wish Etimesgut Military Airport to be beneficial and auspicious for our city once again.

I would also like to underline this: Throughout the summit, we took care to strike a delicate balance between security, transportation, trade, public order, and the maintenance of city life. Despite this, I thank all my fellow citizens in Ankara whose daily lives were affected by the summit for their patience and understanding. By hosting a historic summit with historic success, Ankara has increased its visibility in the international arena more than ever before. Hopefully, the effects of the summit will also be seen in tourism.

"WE WILL DISPLAY THE SAME SUCCESS AT THE ORGANIZATION OF TURKIC STATES SUMMIT"

Hopefully, we will display the same success at the 13th Organization of Turkic States Summit, which we will organize on October 29-30.

My dear citizens, the Presidential National Library served as the International Media Center during the summit. The summit was delivered to the whole world with a total of 96 cameras, 18 live broadcast vehicles, and broadcasts made from 26 different points. Compared to other NATO meetings I have attended a significant portion of, the Ankara Summit has been one of the summits that has attracted the most intense interest from the media. We see that this interest continues in both the international press and social media channels.

From the Mehter March to our Janissaries who took part in the ceremonial guard for the first time, from the magnificent show of the Turkish Stars to our cavalry units, from the originality of the gifts given to the perfection of the organization, from our complex to our library, many elements that complement each other continue to attract people's attention, to be talked about, and to be debated. We find all of these important not only in terms of promoting Turkey but also in showing the richness of Turkish culture and history and the unique hospitality of the Turkish nation.

"THERE ARE THOSE WHO CANNOT TOLERATE HEARING A SINGLE WORD"

Of course, I would like to bring to your attention a matter that has now become pathological. Unfortunately, there is a marginal segment in Turkey that cannot tolerate hearing even a single positive sentence about their own state and government. They cannot digest the fact that all participants, without exception, including heads of state, ministers, and journalists, speak highly of our country. So much so that they have been producing unimaginable delusions for days to smear the summit and Turkey's exceptional hospitality. Whenever we see this group, which is a subject of misconduct rather than politics, and the nonsense they put forward, believe me, we only feel sorry for them. We just laugh at the criticisms made by those pathetic people who beg their counterparts for a five-minute meeting just to get on the agenda. Look, alienation is bad. But it is much worse for a person to be alienated from their own country, their own nation, and even to become hostile.

"TURKEY IS OUR COMMON STATE"

Regardless of which party or view we belong to, regardless of our origin, we are all citizens of this state. We are members of this noble nation. What is good for Turkey is good, beneficial, and auspicious for all of us. Turkey's success is the success of all 86 million. Turkey's trouble, on the contrary, is the trouble of all of us without exception.

We do not find it right for national issues to be made an instrument of ideological fighting and political polemics. As I have said many times before, I am stating a fact again today. I remind those who are uncomfortable with the Mehter March, the Janissaries, and the ceremonies being performed in a way that is worthy of our history: Whether you accept it or not, there is no longer a Turkey that rejects its heritage. On the contrary, there is a Turkey that embraces its accumulation of civilization and culture. The Republic of Turkey is the last link in our chain of states that has lasted thousands of years, with a history full of glory and honor. The NATO Leaders' Summit was a meeting where this deep-rooted state tradition of ours manifested with all its splendor. The greatness and nobility of our nation, the reputation and prestige of our state, were virtually embodied in the Presidential Complex where the summit was held.

Our Mehter band, which excites the sword clashing of our heroic ancestors on the battlefields with their kettledrums, drums, and zurnas, and our guard regiment, which includes the Janissary Corps, one of the most elite military units of the Ottoman Empire, added a distinct meaning and beauty to the summit. I want to express this clearly and net: The Presidential Complex, just like our Grand National Assembly, is the representative office of our state and 86 million. This place, which is targeted by certain circles, is the home of the nation. This is the meeting point of the state wisdom filtered through centuries, the reputation of our nation on the world stage, and the power and weight of Turkey on an architectural ground.

In this period when the old order is at a crossroads and the new system is experiencing the pains of the road, the heart of global diplomacy is beating in our complex. The NATO Summit has shown very clearly to those who say, "What is the need for the Presidential Complex?" and to the vision-poor who say, "If we come to power, we will demolish the complex," what this work is for, for what purpose it was built, and what it means for Turkey.

"IT CLARIFIED OUR COUNTRY'S CENTRAL ROLE"

The Ankara Summit has been instrumental in clarifying the central role of our country. The fact that the new era, in which European allies take more responsibility, the burden is shared more fairly, and collective defense is prioritized, materialized at the Ankara Summit has made the meeting one of the historic summits of the alliance. Turkey, with its military capability, strategic location, diplomatic experience, and defense industry capacity, is at the very center of this transformation, taking its place as one of the most powerful actors of NATO.

At the summit, we recorded that the obstacles and restrictions in front of defense industry cooperation should be removed. It is also important that: Nearly a thousand participants and members of the press attended the Defense Industry Forum, which was organized for the first time this year as one of the main events of the summit. In addition, considering anti-drone efforts, which are one of the priority topics of the alliance, it was decided to establish a center of excellence for countering unmanned systems in Konya.

The summit served as a platform where Turkey's theses were voiced in the strongest way. We brought the inhumane attacks our brothers in Gaza and Lebanon are subjected to to the agenda very clearly. We emphasized once again that the Russia-Ukraine War should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. We had intense contacts for three days on the sidelines of the summit.

CREDIT BUDGET EXPANSION FOR THE MANUFACTURING SECTOR

We are expanding the scope and budget of the investment-committed advance credit program. We are increasing the program budget to 750 billion liras for this new application.

With the new financing program we have implemented, we are offering another credit package of 250 billion liras with favorable conditions to the use of the manufacturing industry.

Thanks to these two programs, we are paving the way for a total of 1 trillion liras of credit with favorable conditions for the manufacturing industry.
