Erdoğan stated that everyone responsible for the fund scandal, which directly affected hundreds of thousands of investors, will be held accountable in the ongoing investigation.
In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into capital market transactions with a total volume exceeding 18 billion dollars, numerous individuals, including former state bureaucrats, have been detained or arrested.
A statement regarding the ongoing investigation also came from AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Responding to journalists' questions in New York, USA, where the United Nations Summit was held, Erdoğan stated that everyone responsible for the scandal would be held accountable before the law.

Regarding the scandal that directly affected 455 thousand investors, Erdoğan made the following assessment:
"We are talking about an issue that emerged in a limited area of the capital markets, in a certain number of funds. In other words, there is no risk to our financial system or the Turkish economy. Portraying this as a problem concerning the entire market would be an injustice to the Turkish Stock Exchange. All necessary steps are being taken and will continue to be taken within the framework of capital market principles and the law.
Our relevant institutions are pursuing the matter with determination. Our judiciary has likewise launched a comprehensive investigation; there have been some detentions and arrests. I want this to be known: Whoever is responsible will be held accountable before the law. There should not be the slightest hesitation regarding this.
No one has the right to engage in a race to profit from the situation or to unsettle our people, no matter the cost. Naturally, it is important that the process be conducted both transparently and with extreme sensitivity, as required by the structure of capital markets. Our instructions are in this direction as well. Furthermore, we will ensure that whatever measures are needed, including legal and administrative regulations, are implemented to prevent a similar problem from occurring again."
