Erdoğan held a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The following was noted in the statement made by the Directorate of Communications regarding the meeting:

"Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held a phone call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting addressed the tensions between India and Pakistan, the attack that took place on the night of May 6, and current developments.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed Turkey's solidarity with Pakistan, while wishing God's mercy upon the Pakistanis who were martyred in the attack and a speedy recovery to the wounded.

Our President stated that Turkey supports Pakistan's calm and moderate policy during this process, and that the proposal to conduct an impartial, transparent, and reliable international investigation into the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir is appropriate.

President Erdoğan expressed that Turkey is ready to do its utmost to prevent the escalation of tensions and that diplomatic contacts on this matter will continue."
