President Erdoğan to meet with Devlet Bahçeli: All eyes on 14:00

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli will meet today at 14:00. The summit, which was not on either leader's daily schedule, is expected to take place at Bahçeli's residence.

The fact that this meeting is taking place following the verdict in the trial regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Sinan Ateş in Ankara two years ago has drawn attention.

In the hearing held yesterday, the gunman Eray Özyağcı, as well as Doğukan Çep, Suat Kurt, Tolgahan Demirbaş, and Vedat Balkaya, were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment.

After the opening session of Parliament concluded, Bahçeli shook hands with several deputies, including DEM Party Co-Chairman Tuncer Bakırhan, DEM Party Group Deputy Chairman Sezai Temelli, DEM Party Van Deputy Pervin Buldan, and DEM Party Ağrı Deputy Sırrı Sakık.

When asked by journalists about this handshake, Bahçeli replied, "We are entering a new era. While we want peace in the world, we must ensure peace in our own country."
