President Erdoğan: Turkey is an exemplary country where everyone enjoys freedom of religion and conscience
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated, "Turkey is an exemplary country where everyone enjoys freedom of religion and conscience, where communities can maintain their own institutions, and where mutual respect prevails."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with representatives of religious minorities for an iftar dinner at the Presidential Complex.
Highlights from Erdoğan's speech are as follows:
"Turkey is an exemplary country where everyone enjoys freedom of religion and conscience, where communities can maintain their own institutions, and where mutual respect prevails.
The rise of Islamophobia, especially in recent years, clearly threatens both our people and the culture of living together.
We have no tolerance for dark, Daesh-like structures that bomb mosques, churches, and synagogues alike, and show no respect even for places of worship.
Just as Islamophobia is a crime against humanity, so too is antisemitism; it is an evil that cannot be seen as reasonable or legitimate."
