President Erdoğan: We will build a climate of peace together
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made remarks at the final of the Quran Recitation Competition.
Erdoğan made remarks at the final of the Quran Recitation Competition, stating, "We will be the adversary of the oppressor and the friend of the oppressed. We will stand by the oppressed in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, and Arakan—wherever our hearts beat and our hands can reach. As Muslims, we will build a climate of peace together."
Key highlights from the speech of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan are as follows:
I would like to thank our teachers, our hafizs, the brothers and sisters who organized this program, and you, our esteemed guests. I congratulate you all on the month of Ramadan, which we are now bidding farewell to.
I pray that this blessed night brings goodness to both our nation and the Islamic world. I convey my strongest messages of solidarity to my brothers and sisters who are trying to spend Ramadan and the Night of Power under difficult conditions, especially the oppressed in Gaza.
We will continue, God willing, to stand by the oppressed, the innocent, the destitute, the orphans, and the fatherless in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, and Arakan—wherever our hearts beat and our hands can reach.
I say, may the Lord be our helper and supporter. Once again, through you, I convey my respect, love, and gratitude to all our teachers and brothers and sisters who, across our eighty-one provinces and all corners of the earth, are devoted to the cause of 'i'lâ-i kelimetullah' (exalting the word of God), who have dedicated themselves to this path, and who contribute to the Ummah with their knowledge, morality, purpose, works, efforts, and labor; who weave the Quran and Sunnah—which our Prophet, the Pride of the Universe, entrusted to us and promised that we would not lose our way as long as we hold fast to both—into the minds of people like intricate embroidery.
I remember with mercy all our teachers and elders who have served Islam, Muslims, and humanity, who dedicated their lives to the path of 'enjoining good and forbidding evil,' and who have now migrated from this transient world to the hereafter after delivering the trust to its owner.
I congratulate the 'nightingales of the Quran' who have brought our gardens of the heart to life with their recitations.
Likewise, I wholeheartedly congratulate all our reciters, hafizs, and teachers who participated in the grand final.
I hope that the Quran Recitation Competition, which has completed its tenth year, will continue for many more years, and that this exceptional organization will continue to adorn our homes with the sounds of the Quran for many years to come. I congratulate our TRT family, who have brought this valuable program to screens for ten years and reached a very wide audience, and our Presidency of Religious Affairs, which contributed to it.
Dear friends, we all know that human memory is prone to forgetfulness. Even if we occasionally fall into the negligence of forgetting, thank God, we are a truly fortunate, honorable, and very lucky nation.
We are an Ummah that has attained the grace of the Messenger of Mercy, who said, "My brothers are those who believe in me without having seen me."
No matter what anyone says, we see this compliment as the greatest badge of honor for ourselves, and we are always proud to be a part of this Ummah, this nation, and this civilization.
We are inheriting such a set of values that beauty occupies a central position in this pool of virtues. For it is mentioned in the Book of God that man was created in the most beautiful form, 'ahsan-i taqwim'.
As Muslims, we believe that everything, animate or inanimate, the entire universe, was created by God Almighty with the highest artistry. Indeed, our Lord says in Surah Az-Zumar: "Allah has sent down the best of statements: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration (of lessons, parables, and rulings)." Yes, the Quran, the source of healing, the means of mercy, and the guide to guidance and life, is undoubtedly the most beautiful of words.
