President Erdoğan's call to leaders on Gaza: Do not be complicit in the brutality
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made significant remarks at the UN General Assembly, stating, "I am calling out to all world leaders; today is the day, today is the day to stand tall on behalf of humanity alongside the oppressed people of Palestine. Those who do not take a stand are complicit in the brutality."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made significant remarks at the UN General Assembly.
Here are the highlights from Erdoğan's remarks:
For the last 23 months, one child has been mercilessly taken from life every hour in Gaza by Israel. These are not just numbers; each one is a life, an innocent human being.
The 2.5 million Gazans living within 365 square kilometers are being displaced every day, forced to migrate to another region every day.
Innocent little ones, only 2-3 years old, without hands, arms, or legs, have unfortunately become the common image of Gaza today.
If a child gets a small thorn in their hand, parents' hearts ache, but in Gaza, children are being amputated without anesthesia. This is the lowest point of humanity.
"HUMANITY HAS NOT SEEN SUCH BRUTALITY IN THE LAST CENTURY"
(In Gaza) What conscience can endure this, what conscience can remain silent to this? Can there be peace in a world where children die of hunger and lack of medicine?
"(Israel's genocide in Gaza) Humanity has not seen such brutality in the last century.
This is not a fight against terrorism. This is an occupation, displacement, exile, genocide, or more accurately, a policy of mass extermination carried out by using the October 7 event as a pretext.
Israel is not limiting itself to Gaza and the West Bank; it is also threatening regional peace by launching attacks on Syria, Iran, Yemen, and Lebanon.
I state from this podium: there is no war in Gaza. On one side, there is a regular army with the most modern and lethal weapons in its hands; on the other, there are innocent civilians.
(Regarding the attack on Qatar) The Israeli administration has completely lost control. It is understood once again that Netanyahu has no intention of achieving peace or rescuing the hostages.
The Israeli administration, acting with the obsession of 'promised lands,' is threatening regional peace and the common achievements of humanity with its expansionist policy.
"THE MOST BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS HAVE BEEN SHELVED"
(Israel's attacks) Concepts such as the most basic human rights, freedom of expression, assembly, and protest, women's and children's rights, equality, and justice have been shelved.
(In Palestine) This state of madness, which also disturbs conscientious Jews, which they do not approve of, and which fuels antisemitism all over the world, can no longer continue.
I am calling out to all world leaders; today is the day, today is the day to stand tall on behalf of humanity alongside the oppressed people of Palestine.
The genocide squad must be held accountable under international law. I hope this will definitely happen.
I believe that the Syrian people, who won the struggle against a blood-stained regime, will also bring the victory they achieved by paying great prices to its destination, God willing.
As stability takes root in Syria, there is no doubt that the winners of this will be all neighboring countries and our entire region, along with the Syrians.
SPOKE ON THE RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR
With the motto that there is no winner in war and no loser in a just peace, we will continue to strive for a ceasefire in the coming period.
There are two separate states and two separate peoples on the island of Cyprus. Turkish Cypriots are equal owners of the island and will not accept being a minority.
I would like to emphasize in particular that projects in the Eastern Mediterranean that exclude Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will not be successful.
The international community must now end the unjust isolation to which Turkish Cypriots have been subjected for half a century.
The solution to the Cyprus issue cannot be built on the 'federation model,' which has been tried many times before but has been exhausted due to the intransigent attitude of the Greek side.
I invite the international community to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and to establish diplomatic, political, and economic relations.
We want to see the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean as a basin of stability where the legitimate interests of the relevant parties are respected. We are ready for constructive cooperation on every issue.
"TURKEY WILL CONTINUE TO STAND BY OUR AFGHAN BROTHERS"
We are strengthening our relations with our NATO ally, the USA, in many areas, especially in trade, investment, energy, and the defense industry.
The international community should not leave the Afghan people alone in the recovery process. Turkey and the Turkish nation will continue to stand by our Afghan brothers.
It is the common responsibility of the international community to stop the bloodshed in Sudan and establish sustainable peace; our efforts in this direction will continue.
Artificial intelligence technologies should be used for the benefit of humanity, not as a new tool of domination.
