Presidential Administrative Affairs Head Metin Kıratlı appointed as Constitutional Court member

Presidential Administrative Affairs Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Kıratlı has been appointed as a member of the Constitutional Court by Erdoğan.

Hakkı Susmaz has been appointed to the position of Presidential Administrative Affairs Head, which was vacated by Metin Kıratlı.

The decision was published in the Official Gazette dated July 18, 2024.

IT WAS RUMORED THAT KIRATLI WOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE PALACE

Following the changes made in the cabinet, it was alleged that a 'high-level' change would also take place at the Palace.

The name at the center of these allegations was Presidential Administrative Affairs Head Metin Kıratlı, who recently made headlines due to a large bill he paid at a restaurant.

Journalist İsmail Saymaz had stated on a live broadcast on Halk TV regarding this 'high-level' change that President Erdoğan would remove Presidential Administrative Affairs Head Metin Kıratlı from his post.

KIRATLI HAD MADE HEADLINES WITH THE BILL HE PAID

Presidential Administrative Affairs Head Metin Kıratlı had recently made headlines with a bill he paid at a restaurant.

It was revealed that Metin Kıratlı and AKP Ankara Provincial Vice Chairman Serkan Korkutata paid a bill of 168 thousand liras at a restaurant in Bodrum, and subsequently, an access ban was imposed on the news reports in question.

WHO IS METIN KIRATLI?

He was born on February 14, 1969, in Ereğli, Konya. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ereğli.

He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1990.

He received foreign language training at the Turkey and Middle East Public Administration Institute Public Diplomacy Training Program at the Goethe Institute (Berlin). Later, he completed a Master's degree with a thesis in Private Law at the Istanbul Commerce University Institute of Social Sciences. He completed his doctoral studies at Kırıkkale University.

Kıratlı, who began his judgeship internship at the Ankara Courthouse, served as a judge in Ulaş, Çaldıran, Yalvaç, and Manavgat respectively after completing his internship. In 2004, he was appointed to the Ministry of Justice General Directorate of Criminal Affairs, where he served as an Examining Judge, Department Head, Deputy General Manager, and General Manager. With the election of the 12th President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2014, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary General of the Presidency. Kıratlı, who became the Presidential Administrative Affairs Head on August 3, 2018, was appointed as a member of the Constitutional Court with the decision published in the Official Gazette on July 18, 2024.

WHO IS HAKKI SUSMAZ?

He was born in 1974 in Gördes, Manisa. He completed his primary education in Gördes. He graduated from the Vocational High School of Health in 1992. He completed his education at the Ankara University Faculty of Law.

He served at the Ankara Provincial Health Directorate. In 2001, he officially began his duty at the Ministry of Health Legal Consultancy. He undertook duties in various boards and commissions within the ministry (such as promotion, title change, and central discipline). In August 2018, he was appointed as the General Manager of Law and Legislation at the Presidential Administrative Affairs Directorate.

He currently serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of ULAK Haberleşme A.Ş.

He is married and a father of two.
