Prison escapees hijack yacht: Search for bodies underway in the Caribbean

American couple Kathy Brandel and Ralph Hendry had planned to spend the winter in the Caribbean. However, the couple's yacht was stolen by prison escapees in Grenada. 

According to a report in The Sun, police have captured the yacht and the three fugitive suspects they believe stole it. 

POLICE BELIEVE THE COUPLE IS DEAD

Police, who believe the couple is dead, stated that they were likely thrown into the ocean and killed. Royal Grenada Police Force Commissioner Don McKenzie said at a press conference, "Information suggests that (the suspects) disposed of the passengers while traveling between Grenada and St. Vincent."

However, the couple's bodies have not yet been found. The couple went missing on February 19, one day after Grenada police announced that three convicted criminals had escaped from custody. 

RED SUBSTANCE RESEMBLING BLOOD SEEN ON YACHT

The three individuals, identified as 30-year-old Ron Mitchell, 19-year-old Trevon Robertson, and 25-year-old Abita Stanislaus, had been arrested in December on charges related to a robbery. Mitchell also faced charges of one count of rape, three counts of attempted rape, and two counts of indecent assault and causing harm. 

Police emphasized that they have found evidence suggesting the couple was killed, but that their deaths have not been confirmed and the investigation is still in its early stages. Police spokesperson Junior Simmons said, "Various items were scattered on the deck and in the cabin, and a red substance resembling blood was seen on the vessel."
