Prison sentence for Engin Polat and his father Sezgin Polat: For issuing fake invoices

The court sentenced Engin Polat and Sezgin Polat to 5 years and 2 months in prison for "repeated violation of the Tax Procedure Law" on the grounds that they caused public loss by issuing fake invoices, while Ahmet Gün was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison for complicity in the same crime.

An investigation had been launched into the companies of social media influencer Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat for crimes including 'using fake invoices,' 'accounting fraud,' and 'keeping double books.' 

The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had filed a lawsuit against Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, and their accountant Ahmet Gün for "repeated violation of the Tax Procedure Law," requesting up to 8 years in prison, and the indictment prepared by the prosecutor's office had been accepted by the Istanbul Anatolian 17th Criminal Court of First Instance.

While the non-detained defendants Engin Polat and Sezgin Polat did not attend the 4th hearing of the case held at the Anatolian 17th Criminal Court of First Instance, defendant Ahmet Gün and the lawyers for the parties were present in the courtroom.

5 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS PRISON SENTENCE

The court decided to sentence defendants Engin Polat and Sezgin Polat to 5 years, 2 months, and 15 days in prison each for the crime of "repeated violation of the Tax Procedure Law." Defendant Ahmet Gün was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison for his complicity in the crime of "repeated violation of the Tax Procedure Law."
