Prison sentence for IYI Party mayor over harassment
Gülüç Mayor Gökhan Mustafa Demirtaş of the IYI Party has been sentenced to prison in the trial where he was accused of harassing municipal employee Duygu K. Duygu K. stated, "I felt justice to my core with the prison sentence handed down today."

DID NOT ACCEPT THE CHARGES
Appearing before the judge today at the Ereğli 5th Criminal Court of First Instance for the final hearing of the case, Gökhan Mustafa Demirtaş did not accept the charges.
The presiding judge found Demirtaş guilty, sentencing him to 3 years, 1 month, and 15 days in prison for sexual assault, and 10 months in prison for sexual harassment.
"I FELT JUSTICE TO MY CORE"
Speaking to journalists after the hearing, Duygu K. said, "I felt justice to my core with the prison sentence handed down today. I am calling out to all women who have been subjected to harassment and violence; let no one be afraid, let them stand tall, and let them not bow down to anyone. Let them trust in the supreme Turkish justice system and seek their rights."
