Prison sentence for Nasuh Mahruki: Will be under supervised release

A verdict has been reached in the trial of former AKUT head Nasuh Mahruki, which was opened due to his remarks regarding the statements of Supreme Election Council (YSK) Chairman Ahmet Yener concerning the electronic voting system.

Mahruki, who was arrested on November 20 and released on December 5, was sentenced to 11 months and 20 days in prison in the case where he was tried on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information." However, the court deferred the announcement of the verdict. In accordance with this decision, Mahruki will be under supervised release, and the sentence will not be executed provided he does not commit a crime within the specified period.

WHAT DID NASUH MAHRUKİ SAY?

Nasuh Mahruki had expressed his reaction on social media to YSK Chairman Ahmet Yener's statements regarding electronic elections.

Mahruki had stated, "Great Turkish nation, you must be very careful and vigilant. The government and the YSK are setting up a scheme to steal the elections one last time. The Chamber of Computer Engineers must have the authority to conduct audits on your behalf in an early Presidential election. If they are not audited, they will steal our votes, replace them with fake ones, and win the election illegally again. This would be the end of the Republic of Turkey, and this end would be more terrifying than anything you could see even in your worst nightmares."
