Vestel Companies CEO Ergün Güler had sent a message to his employees for the beginning of the month of Ramadan. Zorlu Holding CEO Cem Köksal reacted to this message, issuing a statement noting that the company's list of days to be celebrated also includes the 'Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha' holidays.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Following the sharing of the message on social media, an ex officio investigation was launched against Köksal on charges of 'preventing the freedom of belief, thought, and opinion.' As a result of the investigation, Zorlu Holding CEO Cem Köksal, who was taken into custody, was released under judicial control conditions.

PRISON DEMAND

In the prepared indictment, it is requested that the suspect Cem Köksal be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 1 year and 3 months to 5 years and 3 months for the crime of 'preventing the freedom of belief, thought, and opinion' in a chain manner. The suspect's trial is expected to begin shortly at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
