Prison sentence sought for Rıza Kocaoğlu and Halit Ergenç

As part of the investigation, proceedings were initiated against actors Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu, who participated in the Gezi Park protests and are affiliated with Barım's company, on charges of "perjury." One of the reasons for launching the investigation was that Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu denied any connection with Mehmet Ali Alabora, despite their contacts during the events and footage showing them protesting together.

UP TO 4 YEARS IN PRISON REQUESTED

As a result of the investigation, an indictment was prepared requesting prison sentences for Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu on charges of "perjury."

The prepared indictment states that the testimony given by Ergenç and Kocaoğlu as witnesses regarding Ayşe Barım was evaluated in the context of the crime of "aiding an attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey or to prevent it from performing its duties," a crime that carries a prison sentence of more than 3 years. In this context, it was stated that the conditions for the crime of "perjury" had been met, and the prosecutor requested a prison sentence of 2 to 4 years for Ergenç and Kocaoğlu. The indictment has been sent to the 24th Criminal Court of First Instance.
