Former Eskişehir Metropolitan Mayor Yılmaz Büyükerşen may face trial due to transactions allegedly carried out between 2012 and 2020.

The prosecutor's office, having examined Büyükerşen's activities during this period, has requested that a lawsuit be filed to punish him for two separate crimes.

According to a report in 'Gerçek Haberci', the indictment has been prepared for submission to the court and is reportedly linked to allegations that the Education, Health and Scientific Research Studies Foundation (ESBAV), where Büyükerşen served on the board of directors, had deviated from the principle of public interest.

The foundation was placed under investigation on the grounds that it was used for private interests.

Trustees had been appointed to ESBAV, which was founded in 1979, after Büyükerşen and six other members of the board of directors were removed from their duties.

These developments are considered a significant turning point in Büyükerşen's political career.
