Prison sentences for 2 people who broadcast AKP deputy's parking violation
The prison sentences given to two people who showed on a live broadcast that AKP Yalova Deputy Meliha Akyol's vehicle was not complying with parking restrictions, on the grounds that they unlawfully published personal data, have been upheld by the appellate court.
Recep Adıgüzel, who noticed that a luxury car belonging to AKP Yalova Deputy Meliha Akyol was parked in a restricted area, reported the situation to the 112 emergency line and filed a complaint with the authorities. Adıgüzel, who conducted a live broadcast on social media from the scene for exactly 1 hour and 45 minutes along with Berkant Fitoz, who was with him, also mentioned that a high fine had previously been imposed on a local shopkeeper in the same spot.
According to the report in Sözcü, as a result of the lawsuit filed after the police officers' conversations were also recorded during the live broadcast, the court sentenced Recep Adıgüzel and Berkant Fitoz to 2 years and 1 month in prison each for the crime of "unlawfully obtaining and disseminating personal data."
The appeal against the sentence was rejected by the appellate court. Thus, the prison sentence decision for the two individuals who shared the AKP deputy's parking violation on social media in Yalova has become final.
