Private Italian High School principal sent away from Turkey in a hurry: 12punto accesses the document

Following the strike victory, the Istanbul Private Italian High School has remained in the headlines due to a purge operation launched against unionized teachers. According to information obtained by 12punto, Italian Principal Giuseppe Finocchiaro has been transferred by the Italian Ministry of Education to the Italian State Comprehensive Institute in Paris, France—officially known as the Istituto Italiano Statale Comprensivo di Parigi or the Istituto Statale Italiano “Leonardo da Vinci,” a state school directly affiliated with the Italian government that provides education from kindergarten through high school.

Declared Persona Non Grata

According to information obtained by 12punto, school principal Giuseppe Finocchiaro had been declared an undesirable person, or persona non grata, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. 

Decision Issued One Day Later

While no official statement has yet been made by authorities regarding the claim, it is noteworthy that the Italian Ministry of Education has assigned Finocchiaro to an Italian high school in Paris for the 2026-2027 academic year.

On the other hand, although a statement from an official mentioned in a report by Oksijen regarding the matter included the phrase “We estimate that an administrative decision taken by Italian authorities is being referred to,” the fact that Italian authorities have proceeded with a different assignment creates new contradictions.
