Pro-government columnist gives date for general elections: 'There won't be an early election, but...'

The debate over early elections, which began after the Republican People's Party (CHP) emerged victorious from the March 31 Local Elections, continues.

TV100 columnist Hacı Yakışıklı, known for his proximity to the government, wrote in his column today, "There will not be an 'early election' in the short term for parliamentary and presidential elections in Turkey, but the elections will be moved forward."

Claiming that the general elections will be held in 2027, Yakışıklı also alleged that the opposition does not want an early election before 2027. Arguing that the years 2024-2025 will be spent in an economic war and that this war will result in Turkey's favor, Yakışıklı wrote that inflation has not yet ended, market prices are high, purchasing power has not reached the expected level, and the housing sector is waiting to accelerate.

Suggesting that the local election results surprised the CHP, Yakışıklı continued as follows:

"As such, the opposition front does not want an early election before 2027 either. Because the large number of mayoralties they won surprised them. They have not had time to interpret the foundations and actors of this success. It will take time for the opposition to digest and internalize this situation.

For this reason, President Erdoğan said on his way back from Spain and Italy; 'It seems they could not digest our return visit.'

Why couldn't they digest it? Because they still haven't been able to analyze the 'parameters of success.'"
