Pro-government columnist makes much-discussed 'trustee' claim! 'This looks like a beginning'

While discussions on a new resolution process have begun following the call made by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli for terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, trustees have been appointed to 4 municipalities in the last 6 days.

As the repercussions of the arrest of CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee in his place continue, a new wave of trustees has arrived.

The Ministry of Interior announced that trustees have been appointed to the Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti municipalities, which were under the administration of the DEM Party.

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the government, brought a striking claim regarding the trustee appointments to the agenda.

Stating “This looks like a beginning,” Abdulkadir Selvi said, “It is said that mayors whose ties to the PKK are identified will be removed from office and replaced by trustees. However, it is stated that DEM Party mayors who have no ties to the PKK will continue their duties. In other words, for a while, we may wake up to news of a new trustee every morning.”

Expressing in the continuation of his article that there will be a completely different agenda next week, Selvi assessed, “I am not saying this just for the sake of it. I will share it in the later parts of my article. We are going through a transition period in the truest sense. The balances in politics are changing.”

The relevant section from Selvi’s article titled ‘What will be Erdoğan’s good news’ is as follows:

"Last week, President Erdoğan made an epic speech regarding the new process.

The week before that, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had made a call that broke the mold. After 43 weeks, a meeting took place with İmralı, and Öcalan said he could take responsibility.

The climate had changed. We were talking about a solution.

Then came the TUSAŞ attack. The appointment of a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality followed.

TRUSTEES WILL CONTINUE

We started the week with the appointment of trustees to the DEM Party-run Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti Municipalities. This looks like a beginning. It is said that mayors whose ties to the PKK are identified will be removed from office and replaced by trustees. However, it is stated that DEM Party mayors who have no ties to the PKK will continue their duties. In other words, for a while, we may wake up to news of a new trustee every morning.

THE AGENDA WILL CHANGE

We will have a completely different agenda next week. I am not saying this just for the sake of it. I will share it in the later parts of my article. We are going through a transition period in the truest sense. The balances in politics are changing."
