Pro-government journalist gives a date for Selahattin Demirtaş's release
Fatih Atik, the Ankara Representative for the pro-government outlet TGRT Haber, has claimed that there is speculation in capital political circles that Selahattin Demirtaş could be released in the autumn. Atik also stated that the possibility of him joining the DEM Party leadership after his release is among the topics being discussed.
Imprisoned former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş has returned to the agenda following recent remarks by former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who stated in a television program that he does not regret his past stance regarding the lifting of parliamentary immunity.
While discussions on this issue continue in the political arena, Fatih Atik, speaking on TGRT, stated that there are assessments in Ankara suggesting that Selahattin Demirtaş could be released in the autumn.
Atik said that one of the questions being discussed in political circles is, "If Demirtaş joins the DEM Party leadership after his release, will the process evolve into something else?"
