Pro-government journalist warns AKP: 'You will continue to lose'
The AKP candidate won the re-run election for deputy mayor at the Bayrampaşa Municipality, which was held following an objection by the AKP. Journalist Hacı Yakışıklı, known for his proximity to the AKP, reacted to the election result.
Following the arrest of CHP Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, the AKP candidate İbrahim Akın won the election held in the municipal council for the position of deputy mayor.
While Akın received 19 votes, the CHP candidate Recep Öztürk remained at 18 votes. With this result, the Bayrampaşa Municipality, which was won by the CHP in the 2024 local elections, has returned to AKP administration.
THE FIRST ELECTION HAD BEEN ANNULLED
In the first election held on September 21, CHP member İbrahim Kahraman had been elected deputy mayor by drawing lots. However, the AKP wing brought the claim of "fraud" to the agenda and took the result to court. The 8th Administrative Court of Istanbul ruled for the annulment of this election on October 10.
CRITICISM ALSO CAME FROM WITHIN THE AKP
The election result also sparked debate within the AKP. Journalist Hacı Yakışıklı, who is close to the government, made a noteworthy post on his social media account.

Yakışıklı used the following expressions in his message:
“If you view an AK Party candidate winning an election held in the council of a municipality where a trustee has been appointed or the mayor is in prison as ‘winning an election,’ you will continue to lose both Istanbul and other cities.”
Kayyum atanan yahut belediye başkanı cezaevinde olan bir il/ilçe belediyesinin meclisinde seçim yapılarak bunu Ak Parti'li bir ismin kazanmasına "seçim kazandık" gözüyle bakarsanız İstanbul'u da diğer şehirleri de kaybetmeye devam edersiniz.
