Prosecutor close to MHP initiates 'study' on journalists investigating Sinan Ateş and ABK cases
It has been alleged that a prosecutor known for their proximity to the MHP has initiated a 'study' regarding journalists who reported on the Sinan Ateş and Ayhan Bora Kaplan cases.
Cumhuriyet columnist Barış Terkoğlu, in his column today titled "A strange 'study' in Ankara," reported that a prosecutor working at the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, known for their proximity to the MHP, has initiated a "study" regarding journalists who reported on the Sinan Ateş and Ayhan Bora Kaplan cases.
"The 'study,' which resembles an investigation, has not been entered into the UYAP system, which prosecutors are required to record in," Terkoğlu said, adding, "Consequently, it has not officially turned into an investigation. But it is waiting in the prosecutor's archive as an 'investigation study'."
The relevant part of Terkoğlu's column is as follows:
"As is known, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducted both the Sinan Ateş murder investigation and the Ayhan Bora Kaplan operation. Sentences were handed down in both cases. The MHP's discomfort with both cases is no secret. So much so that the MHP frequently reacted to those who pursued the defendants. The MHP leader even accused the police officers who conducted the operation of a 'coup.' He also frequently targeted the journalists who pursued the file and complained about them with a list.
Let's get to the matter.
There is a high-level prosecutor in the prosecutor's office who is very close to the MHP. That prosecutor, whose relations with the MHP are known to everyone, has initiated a 'study' about some journalists who pursued the file and are well-known to the public.
I say 'study'.
Because it is a requirement for investigations to be recorded in the UYAP system and for an investigation number to be obtained. The 'study,' which resembles an investigation, has not been entered into the UYAP system, which prosecutors are required to record in. Consequently, it has not officially turned into an investigation. But it is waiting in the prosecutor's archive as an 'investigation study.' Who knows, perhaps one day the archives will be opened or it will turn into an investigation, and all of Turkey will learn the truth of the matter."
