Prosecutor who filed the 'fool' case against İmamoğlu appointed as Chief Public Prosecutor of Çaycuma: He also oversaw the Dilan-Engin Polat case

Istanbul Anadolu Public Prosecutor Ahmet Çolak, who filed the "fool" case against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, has been appointed as the Chief Public Prosecutor of Çaycuma in Zonguldak under the 2024 autumn decree of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK).

On May 21, 2021, Çolak filed a lawsuit against İmamoğlu on charges of "publicly insulting public officials working as a board due to their duties."

The Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) announced that it has completed the appointments of a total of 332 judges and prosecutors in the judicial and administrative judiciary.

In the statement made by the HSK, it was stated, "We wish our colleagues who have been appointed success in their new positions and hope that the decrees will be beneficial to our colleagues, their families, our judicial organization, and our country."

PROSECUTOR AHMET ÇOLAK'S POST HAS CHANGED

Another development that drew attention among the appointment decisions was the change of post for Prosecutor Ahmet Çolak, who was serving at the Istanbul Anadolu Courthouse Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutor Çolak has been appointed as the Chief Public Prosecutor of Çaycuma.

HE WAS THE PROSECUTOR OF THE POLAT CASE

Prosecutor Ahmet Çolak had been involved in the Polat case in particular. Çolak had drawn attention with the investigation he launched into Dilan Polat and her family. The prosecutor, who led to the initiation of an investigation into the Polat family's luxurious lifestyle, which they displayed by showing off their wealth in social media posts, had been widely discussed in the public eye.

OTHER NOTABLE APPOINTMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS

Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor Haydar Memiş has become the Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor of Istanbul Anadolu.

Bodrum Chief Public Prosecutor Hasan Dalak has been appointed as the Chief Public Prosecutor of Gaziosmanpaşa.

Çanakkale Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Behçet İşlek has been appointed as the Chief Public Prosecutor of Bodrum.

Erzurum Regional Court of Justice Chief Public Prosecutor Hüsnü Hakan Yağız has been assigned to the Tekirdağ Regional Court of Justice Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, while Ünal Bingül, who held that position, has become the Erzurum Regional Court of Justice Chief Public Prosecutor.
