Protest bans in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir: List of closed stations and roads

The decision to ban protests has begun to be implemented in Ankara and Izmir, following Istanbul. This decision will remain in effect until Tuesday, March 25.

The Istanbul Governor's Office had previously imposed a ban on meetings, demonstrations, and press statements between March 19-23, citing the possibility of protests. Police continue to maintain security measures around the Istanbul Police Department in Fatih.

In Istanbul, Vatan Avenue has been closed to traffic in both directions, and water cannon vehicles (TOMA) remain on standby in the area.

Taking additional measures, the Governor's Office closed many roads leading to Saraçhane to traffic until 14:00 today. These roads include the Atatürk and Galata Bridges, the Samatya-Sirkeci section of the Kennedy Coastal Road, and Fevzipaşa Avenue.

Fevzipaşa Avenue and all roads connected to it, Macar Kardeşler Avenue and all roads connected to it, 15 Temmuz Şehitler Avenue and all roads connected to it, Şehzadebaşı Avenue and all roads connected to it, Vezneciler Avenue and all roads connected to it, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Paşa Avenue and all roads connected to it, Atatürk Boulevard and all roads connected to it, Kennedy Coastal Road (between Samatya and Sirkeci) and all roads connected to it, Reşadiye Avenue and all roads connected to it, Ragıp Gümüşpala Avenue and all roads connected to it, Galata Bridge and all roads connected to it, and Atatürk Bridge and all roads connected to it are currently closed to traffic.

While Taksim Square has been surrounded by barriers, police are also taking security measures against the CHP's call for a gathering in front of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality building. While roads between Vezneciler and Fatih are being opened to traffic in a controlled manner, road narrowing is being implemented at many points.

WHICH ROADS ARE CLOSED IN ANKARA?

The Ankara Governor's Office announced that all types of demonstrations are banned until March 25. Additionally, restrictions have been placed on metro services. The ODTÜ, MTA, Beytepe, and BİLKENT ODTÜ metro stations have been closed. It was reported that passengers will not be picked up from the bus stops in front of ODTÜ.

The Izmir Governor's Office also announced that it has banned all meetings, protest marches, and press statements between March 21-25.
