Protest by TKH in front of Trump AVM in Mecidiyeköy: We will erase both the Trump name and imperialism from our country!

The Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH) organized a protest in front of Trump Towers in Istanbul to express their reaction against the attacks by the US and Israel on Gaza. During the protest, a Palestinian flag was carried, and a banner reading “We will erase both the Trump name and imperialism from our country” was unfurled.

In the press statement, it was emphasized that the name Trump Towers does not suit Istanbul, and the following statements were made: “We are here today. We are here to say that this name is not suitable for Istanbul, the city of the working people. We do not accept a name associated with occupation, exile, and a system of rent-seeking on our lands.”

''THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD WILL NOT BOW TO IMPERIALISM''

The statement further added, “We call out from here to Trump, who thinks he can design the world as he wishes and sees himself entitled to change names: The peoples of the world will not bow to your imperialist aggression.”

The remainder of the press statement included the following: 

''The United States and NATO continue the war and destruction policies they have been carrying out in the Middle East for years. The attacks, which began with the occupation and destruction of Iraq under the guise of the Greater Middle East Project, continued with Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Palestine. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been massacred in Israel's occupations and massacres. Millions of Palestinians have been displaced and forced to migrate.

As of February 9, the total death toll in the attacks launched by Israel on October 7, 2023, has risen to 48,189, and the number of wounded has reached 111,640. Over 30,000 women and children have lost their lives in these attacks. A genocide and massacre have taken place before the eyes of the whole world.

After the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on January 19, 2025, the plan of imperialism and the Zionist Israeli regime became clear: The expulsion of Palestinians from their lands and the transformation of Gaza into a new ghetto that will serve the wealthy with hotels and residences.

The new and former president of the rogue state, the US, Trump, announced as soon as he took office that the US would take control of the Gaza Strip and rebuild the region after 'permanently settling' the Palestinians in other countries.

Trump's statement, 'When you look back over the years, you always see death in Gaza,' is a great hypocrisy. The US is trying to distance itself from the genocide-level massacre as if it has not supported the Israeli occupation and massacre for years and has not stood by the Zionist Israeli state.

Representatives of US imperialism and its most aggressive collaborators in the Middle East, Israeli Zionism, Trump and Netanyahu, have recently been making various statements to legitimize their bloody policies again. While the president of the rogue state, the US, Trump, brings up the exile of the Palestinian people on one hand, he is eyeing the island of Greenland and declaring that he has changed the name of the Panama Canal on the other.

The new and former US President Donald Trump has continued to recklessly defend imperialist aggression in the Middle East during the election process and has openly declared that he will provide unlimited support to Israel's occupation policies. On the other hand, Netanyahu and his murderous coalition continue their systematic massacres aimed at destroying the Palestinian people without slowing down, before the eyes of the international public.

As for the governments of the countries in the region, none of them show the slightest sign of resistance against Israel and the US. None of the governments in the region show the political and military will to resist Israel. Years of imperialist interventions, collaborationist governments, and the decline of the demand for independence have strengthened the hand of imperialism in the Middle East and paved the way for it to easily show the arrogance of being able to say, 'I will build a resort in Gaza.'

We, shoulder to shoulder with the peoples of the Middle East who are fighting against imperialism and Zionism, once again emphasize that the real enemy of the working class, the laborers, and the youth is the capitalist order and its international collaborators. This barbarism continuing on Palestinian lands is the joint crime of not only Israel but also US imperialism, Western imperialist states, and their collaborators who provide it with unlimited financial, military, and diplomatic support.

The struggle against the dirty policies of imperialism and Zionism is not only the struggle of the Palestinian people but the common struggle of all the peoples of the region and the world working class. Those resisting in Gaza and the West Bank today are fighting not only for their own future but also for the destruction of the imperialist exploitation order and Zionism, which has no practice other than massacre.

We, all the progressive, revolutionary, left, socialist, and communist parties of the world, have been fighting against the occupation and massacre policies of Israeli Zionism for years. We said the Palestinian cause is the cause of the left. We tried to show that the US, as a state policy, paves the way for Zionism, provides weapons and ammunition, and assigns jihadist gangs when that is not enough. We have all experienced together how the resistance axis established against imperialism in the Middle East was fragmented through collaborationist governments and jihadist gangs.

Our party, the Communist Movement of Turkey, said that the winner of the overthrow of Assad in Syria and the bringing of jihadist gangs to power would be imperialism and Netanyahu, and called on all the peoples of the region to fight against imperialism and the Zionist Israeli regime.

The Trump Towers, in front of which we stand today, is one of the symbols of the collaborationism of the capitalist class in our country. The monstrosity, which boasts of being the first Trump Towers built on the European continent, was opened during the AKP government period, the Prime Minister of Turkey attended the opening, and the AKP government gave a standing ovation to this opening.

We warn the Trump-friendly AKP government. Your collaborationist policies so far have caused the fragmentation of the countries in the region. They led to the rule of jihadist gangs. You brought the immigrant problem to our country.

We are here today. We are here to say that the name Trump Towers does not suit our country. We are here to say that the name Trump Towers does not suit Istanbul, the city of the working people. A name addicted to occupation, exile, hotels, and residences does not suit our lands.

We call out from here to Trump, who thinks he can design the world as he wishes and says he will change the names of places. The peoples of the world will not bow to your imperialist aggression.

We will erase both the Trump name and imperialism from our country.

We declare once again that we will grow our struggle to establish an independent, enlightened country of labor. Long live free Palestine, down with Zionism and imperialism.”

WHAT DID TRUMP SAY ABOUT GAZA?

US President Donald Trump said in a press conference he held with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in recent days that Gazans "should go somewhere else," but shared almost no details about the plan he mentioned.

The statements caused reactions and objections from all over the world; while the Palestinian administration, Hamas, and many leaders from the Arab world reacted harshly, US allies expressed their objections by distancing themselves from the plan in question.
