Public garden project for Validebağ Grove cancelled

The decision to cancel the zoning plans for the "public garden" project, which aimed to open Validebağ Grove in Istanbul's Üsküdar district to development, has been upheld by the appellate court.

ZONING PLANS HAD BEEN PREPARED

Zoning plans had been prepared for the public garden project intended to open Validebağ Grove, a first-degree protected area in Istanbul's Üsküdar district, to development, and local residents had launched protests against it. Lawyer Onur Cingil had taken on the role of legal counsel for the Üsküdar residents and environmentalists.

REJECTION FROM THE COURT

As a result of the lawsuits filed, the zoning change in question had been cancelled. An application made against the decision to cancel the zoning plans was also rejected by the Istanbul Regional Administrative Court. The Fourth Administrative Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Administrative Court upheld the decision to cancel the zoning plans.

"VALİDEBAĞ IS A GROVE, NOT A GARDEN"

Making a statement on his social media account, CHP Üsküdar Mayoral Candidate Nominee Onur Cingil announced the decision, stating, "We said it from the beginning. We said, 'Validebağ is a grove, it will remain a grove.' We said, 'Validebağ is a grove, not a garden.' The cancellation decision in the lawsuit we filed regarding the Public Garden Project has become final with the appellate court's ruling. Best wishes to all residents of Üsküdar and every corner of our country."
