Public housing funds allegedly used... 'Bitcoin' claim in province that switched from AKP to MHP!
An intriguing claim has emerged in the Gümüşhane Municipality, which switched from the AKP to the MHP in the March 31 local elections. MHP's Soner Başer, who received his certificate of election, has requested a 'Court of Accounts Auditor' from the Governor's Office over allegations that public housing funds were used to purchase Bitcoin.
A striking Bitcoin claim has come to the fore in the Gümüşhane Municipality, which switched from the AKP to the MHP in the March 31 local elections.
REQUESTED A COURT OF ACCOUNTS AUDITOR
According to reports by Veli Toprak from Sözcü; MHP Mayor Başer, upon receiving his certificate of election and seeing the debts of the municipality and the allegations regarding Bitcoin in particular from the previous term, wrote a letter to the Governor's Office and called the Court of Accounts to duty.
The letter sent to the Gümüşhane Governor's Office, titled 'Request for Court of Accounts Auditor', included the following statements:
“I submit for your information the request for our accounts to be examined by a Court of Accounts Auditor in order to conduct the necessary financial reviews as the Gümüşhane Municipality following the March 31, 2024 elections.”
During the term of AKP mayor Ercan Çimen, the municipality had planned a public housing project called 'Yaşam Evleri' (Life Homes), consisting of 729 residences and 112 workplaces.
Agreements were made with many landowners and the money was subsequently collected. However, the manager of the municipal company named 'Gümsaş' allegedly invested the collected funds into Bitcoin as a short-term investment.
Victims' Platform President Nuri Öztürk explained that many landowners said, “There is no construction because the money went into Bitcoin.”
