Public transport fare hike in Ankara: Here is the new tariff...
Public transport fares in Ankara have been increased. Accordingly, as of Thursday, August 1, 2024, the full fare ticket has been set at 21 TL, the student ticket at 10.50 TL, and the monthly unlimited student subscription at 300 TL.
Public transport fares in Ankara have been increased.
In an announcement made on the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality's social media account, the following statements were included:
Dear residents of Ankara;
Transportation fares in our city were last increased on July 24, 2023, and since that date, the minimum wage has increased by 49%, while the price of a liter of diesel has risen by 80%. There has been a 70% increase in maintenance, repair, and spare part costs for our public transport vehicles. The cost per cubic meter of CNG fuel used in natural gas buses has increased from 13.26 TL to 18.71 TL.
The EGO General Directorate is incurring a monthly loss of 400 million TL in order to stand by our citizens under poor economic conditions, and this loss is covered by other budget items of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. The fuel price hikes made in just the last month will add an additional 20 million TL to the monthly loss of 400 million TL.
For all these reasons, in a way that will ensure our organization remains operational, and without fully reflecting the public transport input costs onto our citizens, a reasonable increase has been applied as of Thursday, August 1, 2024, with the full fare ticket set at 21 TL, the student ticket at 10.50 TL, and the monthly unlimited student subscription at 300 TL.
Respectfully announced to the public.
