Published in the Official Gazette: 3 books declared harmful publications
The Ministry of Family and Social Services has declared the books "Disney Gravity Falls: Journal 3," "Stories for Boys Who Dare to Be Different," and "The New Guests of the Naughty House" as harmful publications.
The decision of the Board for the Protection of Minors from Harmful Publications was published in today's issue of the Official Gazette.
According to the decision in the Official Gazette, the book "Disney Gravity Falls: Journal 3", written by Alex Hirsch, translated by Derya Din, and published by Beta Kids Yayıncılık in 2020; the book "Stories for Boys Who Dare to Be Different", written by Ben Brooks, illustrated by Quinton Winter, translated by Sabire Pınar Acar, and published by Eksik Parça Yayınları; and the book "The New Guests of the Naughty House", written by Colleen Rowan Kosinski, illustrated by Valeria Docampa, translated by Özge Ceren Hacıosmanoğlu, and published by Yakamoz Yayınları, were examined ex officio by the Ministry of Family and Social Services Board for the Protection of Minors from Harmful Publications within the scope of Law No. 1117 on the Protection of Minors from Harmful Publications.
As a result of the examinations, it was decided that certain expressions, visuals, and depictions contained within the three books would have a harmful effect on the morality and development of those under the age of 18.
