Published in the Official Gazette: Conditions for transferring to open education are changing

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has made updates to the Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions, which includes significant changes regarding transfers from formal education to open education high schools.

The decision states that students who apply within six months at the latest from the occurrence of the specified circumstances may transfer to an Open Education High School, Vocational Open Education High School, or Open Education Imam Hatip High School upon the request of their parents from formal secondary education institutions.

With this decision, those whose mother or father has passed away, those who have been placed under protection or placed with a foster family, those in the one-year temporary care process prior to adoption, those for whom an education or care measure has been ordered, those with a special needs report, and those receiving education at home or in a hospital will be able to transfer to open education.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS RIGHT

It was stated that students on the list, including those registered in the memorization (hafiz) modules of the Ministry's General Directorate of Lifelong Learning, those receiving memorization training and/or Arabic and Basic Islamic Sciences training supporting this field in Quran courses opened by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, and those who have graduated from middle school or imam-hatip middle school but have not been placed in any formal secondary education institution because they did not make a preference, will be able to benefit from this right.

The Regulation, the provisions of which will be executed by the Minister of National Education, entered into force as of the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
