Quorum could not be reached, traffic bill could not be debated
In the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly, deliberations on the Bill on Amendments to the Highway Traffic Law began from the 18th article where they had left off the previous week, but could not continue due to a lack of quorum.
The General Assembly, convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Tekin Bingöl, moved to debate the Bill on Amendments to the Highway Traffic Law on the agenda at around 21:00.
Deliberations on the bill began from the 18th article where they had previously left off, but a roll call was requested. The session was adjourned at 21:37 due to the lack of a quorum.
On the other hand, a group proposal regarding the work schedule submitted by the AKP was accepted in the General Assembly. With the accepted proposal, it was decided to prioritize the debate of certain bills throughout February and for the General Assembly to work until 24:00 on certain days. According to the proposal, the Bill on Amendments to the Land Registry Law and Certain Laws and Decree-Law No. 375, which also includes regulations regarding exorbitant site maintenance fees, was moved to the third item on the agenda.
Accordingly, if the deliberations on the bill cannot be completed, the General Assembly will continue its work with the debate of this bill on Wednesday and Thursday as well. On Tuesday, February 10, the General Assembly will begin debating the Bill on Amendments to the National Parks Law and Certain Laws and Decree-Law No. 375. Thus, the General Assembly will work until midnight on February 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, and 26.
