Rain fills dams in Istanbul

Rainfall experienced in Istanbul after a long drought continues to have a positive impact on dam occupancy rates. Dam occupancy rates, which dropped to as low as 16.18 percent on November 11 of last year, have risen with the rainfall that has continued at intervals over the past month and a half. Following the heavy rainfall that began in Istanbul yesterday afternoon, the occupancy rate of the dams was measured at 52.24 percent as of this morning.

According to data released by the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ), there was a 0.13 percent increase in occupancy within one day. The occupancy rates, which rose from 16.18 percent on November 11 to 52.24 percent, have increased gradually due to the effect of the precipitation.

This positive development indicates that Istanbul's water resources are beginning to reach a healthier state. However, according to information received from the Meteorological Service, no precipitation is expected in Istanbul this week; therefore, it is important that the dam occupancy rates maintain their current level.
