Rapper deported from Turkey receives prison sentence in his home country

In Iran, a country of prohibitions, the regime continues its intense pressure on the public.  Rap music artist Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, who was deported from Turkey to Iran, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Iranian judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir announced the sentence given to the singer, whose stage name is "Amir Tataloo." Jahangir stated, "Tataloo was sentenced to 10 years in prison for adultery and immoral acts."

Jahangir added that the appeals court has upheld the sentence and that the 36-year-old rapper will begin serving his prison term immediately.

Tataloo, considered one of the most colorful personalities in the Iranian hip-hop world, had lived in Turkey for years and was extradited to Iran in December of last year. Tataloo's work is not permitted in the country as he has been unable to obtain the necessary permits from the Iranian Ministry of Culture. Tataloo appeared in court in May on charges of blasphemy and propaganda against the state. The charges in question also made it possible for Tataloo to be sentenced to death.
