TOSUN'S REACTION LED TO VARIOUS INTERPRETATIONS

TFF President Mehmet Büyükekşi, whose tenure has been highly controversial and associated with scandals, had received harsh criticism, particularly from the stands and management of Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş.

In October 2023, Büyükekşi, who came to Tüpraş Stadium to watch Beşiktaş's UEFA Conference League match, left the stadium following abusive chants against him by the fans.

While it is thought that the reaction of Cenk Tosun, who is known for his Beşiktaş identity despite his contract with the club having ended, is related to Mehmet Büyükekşi pointing his finger at the then-Beşiktaş President Ahmet Nur Çebi during that match, some accounts argued that the national player was reacting to not being preferred in the squad during Euro 2024.
